Melanie Martinez is a singer and songwriter. She is a former close friend of Timothy Heller.


Career

Melanie Martinez appeared on The Voice during season 3. She sang Toxic by Britney Spears for her Blind Audition, and turned three chairs: Adam Levine, CeeLo Green, and Blake Shelton. Melanie chose Adam Levine. Starting in week 5, singers of The Voice have two songs to cover. Melanie picked Crazy and Adam picked The Show for her. Neither of her covers appeared in the top ten on iTunes, resulting in her elimination.

After being eliminated in the Top 6 on The Voice, Melanie began to work independently on original material.She released a new hit single titled Dollhouse on February 9th, 2014, along with a music video. Soon after, she released the Dollhouse EP on May 19th, 2014.

Melanie Martinez released her debut album, Cry Baby, on August 14th, 2015. It was made available to pre-order on July 24th. Melanie made music videos for every song on the standard edition of the album, and a lyric video for Play Date in 2020 after it gained popularity on TikTok.

The K-12 album and film were both released on September 6, 2019. The deluxe edition of K-12 was released on its own as well as a separate project, After School EP. All of the standard edition got music videos, which were in the film.

Her third studio album, PORTALS, was released on March 31, 2023. Two singles, DEATH and VOID, releasing before and one promotional single, EVIL.

Relationships

Timothy Heller

Melanie and Timothy used to be very close friends, but they later stopped being friends. The reason was unknown until December 4th, 2017, when Timothy had accused Melanie of rape. After, on December 9th, Melanie had released a second statement where she said that she "would never be intimate with someone without their absolute consent" and claimed that Timothy's statements were false. The allegations were never confirmed either side with the majority believing Melanie due to believed inconsistencies in Timothy's story.

".[1] On December 22nd, 2017, Martinez released a song via SoundCloud called "PIGGYBACK" which people have speculated it addressing the allegations due to the lyrics, but Melanie has not confirmed it.[2]
